If I create a Journal Index database that has more fields and a better interface than my old index it could easier to use and more powerful. In theory it could replace my journal all together.
Each entry would have a date.
I have four Categories: Business, Personal, Creative, and Private (Hidden, non-printing). These are fixed and I arrived at them years ago. There is some overlap but usually I have no problem deciding.
Topics would not be fixed but should be limited. I see Topics as a quick way to find a subset of entries.
Keywords are not fixed and unlimited. I can use as many per entry as I wish and can make them up at will.
DATE:Category:Topic:Keyword(s)
This is what my original idea looked like in outline form.
My current database no longer has this hierarchy.
Keywords are not sub-Topics.
Topics are not Sub-Categories but are similar.
Keep the Categories, Topics and Keywords seperate. Also add a Series (group or collection of entries)URL to longer piece. References (outside URL)
